Frequently Asked Questions:

Massage Therapy:

1.
What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?

You will be required to fill our a health history form. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out paper work. If you would like to expedite this process please go to "Healthcare Forms", print, fill out and bring to your appointment.

At the beginning of the session the therapist will ask you general questions to review your overall health. They will also determine the areas you would like worked on and the conditions that need to be addressed. They might perform certain assessment test.

2.
What do I wear during the massage?

For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on.

For a Cranio Sacral Therapy session you will most often be clothed, it is helpful if you wear comfortable clothing.

3.
How long will a massage treatment last?

The average full-body massage treatment lasts approximately one therapeutic hour. This means that you will be on the table for about 50 minutes and the rest of the time is allotted to the intake questions and dressing.

4.
How will I feel after the massage therapy treatment?

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage. Massage therapists sometimes recommend a hot Epsom salt bath that encourages the release of toxins that may have been stirred up from the massage treatment.

Some forms of massage are more intense than others, depending on the goal of the treatment. There might be areas of tenderness that last no longer than two days. You are recommended to ice the area and drink plenty of water.

5.      Should I tip the therapist?

There is a distinction between Spas and Medical Massage facilities. It is customary to tip at a Spa, but tipping is optional at a Medical Massage Center.
